Who is
Lynn Easton?
Lynn was born in Kimberley, South Africa. Shortly after she was born, her parents moved to Oxford in England for two years and then back to South Africa, Johannesburg, where she grew up. As a child, she was a keen, competitive ice skater and won the figures section of the SA Championships in 1976.
Lynn met her husband, Alex, at 22 in the pub where she worked. With Alex being a Scotsman, it was the most likely place to find him. Everything that is meaningful to Lynn has come about via poetry. She even met her husband because of a poem she wrote to him when she spotted him over the counter, and she liked what she saw. Their best man frightened the living daylights out of her when, on their wedding day, he said he had the original poem she had written. Thankfully, it wasn’t that particular one.
After a five-year courtship, Alex proposed, and they were married for 31 years until Alex passed away. They lived in Durban for 29 years before moving to the East Coast of South Africa, fondly known as “the warmest place to be.”
They had two wonderful children, James Alexander and Nicola Jane. James is an extraordinarily talented gardener/landscaper; everything he touches flourishes. Nicola is a caring, nurturing person who traveled to New Jersey in the USA, then returned to South Africa, then headed off to London and has been there for several years. Before traveling, she obtained her degree in photography. She currently works in London as a nanny. She is a seasoned traveler who loves adrenaline junkie activities and minding children. She is particularly good with children with special needs.
Lynn and Alex were self-employed as Short-Term Insurance Brokers. Since 1999, they owned Afscol Financial Services, specializing in Hospitality Insurance. We are blessed to have a fabulous business with a large base of loyal, supportive clients. Doing what you love makes doing business a pleasure.
Since Lynn was a young girl, she has had a passion for writing and still has some of her first poems and verses. It has been her lifelong dream to write a book, which has finally come to fruition.
Lynn attended a writing course about five years ago but didn’t practice what she had learned fully until about two years ago when she attended a Biodanza retreat. She sat on the floor at the retreat and wrote spontaneously. From that moment, she decided to write daily, which she has done.
Lynn writes to resonate with people in their daily lives with their daily emotional challenges and victories. She writes about hope, love, and spiritual encouragement.
“We all need to feel supported and loved, and my writing embraces huge hugs universally, all written with love, straight from the heart and inspired by my, and others’, life experiences. I write and create in order to make a difference in people’s lives.”
